During the
summer of 2003 Trevor Dee appeared in the original
play PEACE OF MIND.
With the
staff and participants at the Lovewell Institute
for the Creative Arts (www.lovewell.org),
Trevor developed the story concept, collaborated
in writing of the script, named the play and
wrote his own monologue.
The play
PEACE OF MIND pivots on a man in a coma who
is about to die. His family and friends gather
around his hospital bed to express and elaborate
upon the effect he has had on their lives. At
the end of the play Trevor appears as the man’s
father awaiting his son’s arrival in Heaven’s
paradise. The clip we present here is his monologue.
In it, he poetically and succinctly sums up
life and death, sandwiches it all in humor and
presents it in an understandably matter-of-fact
style that is inimitably Trevor.
Trevor loved
to entertain people and make them laugh. He
wanted everyone around him to be happy and feel
comfortable. The irony of this play taking a
form of reality five months later is not lost
on his family, friends and everyone who knew
him.
On January 30th,
2004 when we lost Trevor, we all lost a truly
meaningful part of our lives.
